:: About Dispatch LIVE!

Dispatch LIVE! is an on-going, interactive on-line Flight Simulator X mission database (OGIOFSXMDB).  The Dispatch LIVE database contains a series of real-time missions which are dispatched to the FSX Flight Check software.  In conjunction with the web site, you can view your real-time piloting prowess with the username and password that you create.

:: Creating a Username and Password

In order to use Dispatch LIVE!, you must create a username (display name) and password.  The only two fields necessary are your display name and password.   Relax, no e-mail addresses or other personally identifiable information is required.   Once you've created your username and password, a pilot tracking record is created.  Usernames are on a first come, first serve basis, so if you have a display name that you're fond of, be sure to register it immediately.  Of course, standard acceptable naming rules apply and we will delete any usernames found to be objectionable at our sole discretion.   There is, as yet, no limit on the number of pilot records you may create.

In FSX Flight Check, you'll need to enter your display name and password.  You do this by selecting the "Settings" menu and then click "Set Username and Password".  Enter the same username and password that you used on the web site form into their respective fields in FSX Flight Check and click "Connect".

Once you've successfully logged on, you'll automatically receive periodic mission dispatches.  It will dispatch you on missions you haven't yet accomplished including failed missions.  After you complete a mission, it won't be dispatched to you again unless you opt to send the mission again (see below: Using the Website)

:: Using the Website

You can use your username and password on the web site as well to retrieve your past missions and even send a particular mission to your FSX FLight Check software (you must be connected and logged in to receive the mission).  A life-time mission record and total score are kept in real-time.  As you complete the missions, those completed missions will be displayed on your pilot record on the website.

Keep in mind, when sending yourself a mission you've previously completed, it will save your current mission score regardless or whether the score is higher or lower.  It will save your last known mission score.  If you think you can score higher points on a particular mission, retry the mission by "Sending" it to yourself.  Otherwise, it might be wise to leave the score as-is.

:: Completing Missions

When you receive a live flight dispatch, you have the option to 'Accept' or 'Decline' the dispatch.  If you Decline the dispatch, you'll be put back in the queue to receive another dispatch in a few minutes.  Once you click "Accept" the mission begins.  All missions contain a departure airport and destination airport along with their corresponding ID.  In addition, all missions will have different required skill levels and aircraft types.  The system will automatically set the skill level required, but you'll be responsible for selecting the required aircraft and putting yourself at the departure airport.  The model of aircraft must be listed as the required aircraft, but you can select any livery that you wish.

Time is ticking.  You need to get to your destination airport within the time allotted or the mission will fail.

If the mission requires a "Commercial" skill level, then you must obey all commercial skill level rules.  Conversely, if it's a casual mission, you won't have as many restrictions on your aircraft settings, but still must remain within normal accepted limits for bank, pitch and speed.  You will not be able to alter your skill level once you accept a mission.  Also, your failure settings affect your in-mission flights as well, however, depending on the severity, you'll receive extra credit for landing your aircraft in a failure condition.

When you arrive at your destination, you must safely land in order to complete the mission.  When your mission is complete, your score is tallied and saved and you'll be automatically placed in queue to receive your next dispatch.

:: Turning On/Off Live Dispatches

If you'd rather not receive live dispatches, you can turn off the Dispatch LIVE function by selecting the "Dispatch LIVE" menu option and unselecting the "Receive Live Flight Dispatch" option.   When you want to re-enable the live dispatches, simply re-select the Receive Live Flight Dispatch option.

:: Technical

If you are having problems either logging in or receiving live dispatches, it may be necessary to open a port on your firewall or other internet security software for our servers to dispatch missions to you.

For users behind a firewall or other port security device, you'll want to open a TCP port on port 1072.   Most users won't have the need to open this port, but in the event you experience connection problems, the port may need to be open.

As always, you can forward all bug discoveries and technical questions to support@imagealtered.com.
